Apple Valley Knights

A Letter to the Parents

Organizational Overview (AV Knights)

AV Knights Youth Football is part of the Community Youth Athletic Program inc. (A California Non-Profit Corporation).

The AV Knights Youth Organization is a non-profit sports and educational organization created for the youth of the Apple Valley area. The AV Knights Organization was created to provide an opportunity for young people to be involved in meaningful activities and to be taught the skills necessary to be successful not only in sports, but school and in the community. Young people will be taught the skills for successfully doing tasks, for thinking and solving problems and for getting along with others. Communication skills, assertiveness and the ability to protect them in today’s challenging world are other skills that will be introduced to members.

Our main focus of the AV knights Youth Organization is its development of the student-athlete. With this in mind we have expanded our program and have begun competitive play. This is aimed at young men and women who are serious about athletic commitment.

The goal of the program is to provide our players with an avenue through which they can perfect their athletic skills while allowing them to compete in an area on a Regional Level. This will also enable them to expand their opportunities for high school and at the same time, develop a strong sense of self-worth, sportsmanship, and success in academics and community service.

Along with opportunities for involvement and the skills to take advantage of the opportunities, children will be recognized and acknowledged for their efforts. Recognition will give young people the incentive to continue to contribute and reinforces them for their hard work.

Why We Help?

According to a 1999 Community Risk assessment (6th, 8th, 10th, & 12th grades) survey:

  • 35% of all students have someone in their family who has had severe alcohol/drug problems.
  • 24% of all students do not feel safe in their neighborhoods due to crime, drugs, and fighting.
  • 50% of all students have a best friend that has been expelled from school the past year.
  • 59% of all students have used alcohol, 34% have used marijuana, by age 13
  • 42% of all students feel their grades are poorer than most other students.
  • 15% of all students have a friend who has carried a handgun to school.
  • (This data may or may not reflect your city) when you consider these facts, the need for children to be immersed in a supportive, learning, team environment becomes very evident. Sporting activities such as the CYAP organization creates this environment for the children.

How You Can Help?

The organization is now in need of sponsors and donations as we embark on a quest to replace the gear and other operational projects. We have to give our suppliers time to order the gear so we are trying to raise money as fast as possible.

Please keep in mind that the CYAP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation with all donations being TAX-DEDUCTIBLE. Also, in appreciation to our sponsor we offer field and concession stand banners and acknowledgement on our website (www.CYAP.org) and in our yearbook.

How Can You Benefit?

  • Visibility - The CYAP and the AV Knights football program acknowledges all those who support our organization.
  • This is a TAX DEDUCTABLE donation.
  • A tax ID number and receipt will be provided upon request.
  • Our youth are the future of this country and this community. This program significantly contributes to the positive development of our youth - our future leaders. Investing in our youth should be everyone’s goal.
